A burglar or burglars cut through the roof of a St. Paul business, then through several walls and into a safe to steal more than 100 pieces of jewelry, police said Thursday.

The heist netted more than $10,000 in necklaces, diamond rings, bracelets and other items, said Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman. It happened at Sun Foods, which also sells jewelry, at the Unidale Mall between 6:30 p.m Tuesday and 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to a police report.

After entering the building from the roof, the thief or thieves cut into several sheetrock walls to get to a safe, Linders said. The safe was then cut into and the jewelry taken, Linders said.

Police said they are investigating and have not made arrests.
