PORTAGE, MI – Police are searching for three men who smashed a glass display case Wednesday night and made off with an unknown amount of jewelry from a Portage jewelry store, authorities said.

The robbery was reported at 8:20 p.m. at Jared The Galleria of Jewelry store in the 6300 block of South Westnedge Avenue, Portage Public Safety Sgt. Kevin Gleesing said.

Gleesing said three men wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves entered the store, broke out at least one glass display case, grabbed an unknown number of pieces of jewelry and then quickly exited the store.

No weapon was seen during the incident and no injuries were reported, the sergeant said.

Gleesing said police did not have a description of the three men late Wednesday. He also said police do not know which direction the three men went when they left the store, but detectives will be checking surveillance video from the store to assist in their investigation.

Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to call the Portage Department of Public Safety at 269-329-4567 or contact Silent Observer at 269-343-2100 or www.kalamazoosilentobserver.com.
